Are custom engagement rings really expensive? They don't have to be... let us show you Charles Babb can beat the big box store at price, quality, and experience!
The two rings shown above both feature one-carat radiant cut diamond centers, but the prices are very different. The ring on the left, from a big box jeweler, is regularly priced at $11,999.99 and at the time of this writing was on sale for $9,599.99. The ring on the right is a Charles Babb Designs original available at the time of writing for $6,410.
Let's compare them further.
The left ring's center diamond is said to be 'independently certified,' though the website doesn't specify what that means. The Charles Babb ring's radiant diamond is certified by GIA, the standard-setter of the industry. Looking at the grades, the left diamond is SI2 clarity I color and the right diamond is SI2 clarity as well but two steps higher in color at a G.
Now looking at the side diamonds, the left ring has 3/8ct of SI2 I diamonds. The right has 1/2ct of SI2 F-G diamonds, so more diamond weight and better quality. And of course, the left is a mass-produced piece while the right is made-to-order in a small studio.
Moving on to reviews, the left side ring has a one-star review reading, in part, "Don't waste your money." The Charles Babb ring has multiple 5-star reviews, one of which notes, "I am so happy and impressed with this ring!" The right side ring is additionally able to be customized with different colors of gold and/or stones.
